Patriotic Education Travel Program - The Patriotic Education Travel Program is a unique partnership between College of the Ozarks and The Greatest Generations Foundation to provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences for students and World War II veteran. The Greatest Generations Foundation’s mission is to take Veterans back to the battlefields where they fought and to help educate the younger generation about their sacrifices of American soldiers so that their stories will never be forgotten.

The College recognized this trip as a powerful opportunity to reinforce one of five goals of the College, patriotic education. In June of 2009, students traveled with WWII Veterans to Normandy for the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion; to the Netherlands in September for the 65th anniversary of Operation Market Garden and to Belgium and Luxembourg, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. In 2010 students will accompany Veterans to programs throughout the Pacific and European campaigns. This rich, educational Students and WWI
I journey provides a life changing experience for American students, who not only learn volumes of history from firsthand participants, but grow to love and appreciate them as well. The students who have participated in the Connecting Generations Patriotic Education Travel Program have returned with renewed respect for Veterans and a dramatically increased love for their country.
